Kenya’s coast runs from Mombasa and the long beaches of the South Coast — Diani, Tiwi and Msambweni, with the Shimba Hills behind — to the creeks and coral gardens of Kilifi, Watamu and Malindi on the North Coast, and on to the islands of the Lamu archipelago.

Each stretch has its own character. Diani is Kenya’s best-known resort town and the top investment destination on the coast; Watamu has become the go-to destination for Nairobi expatriate families; Malindi is fondly known as ‘Little Italy’; and Lamu Old Town, over 700 years old, is one of the best-preserved Swahili settlements in the world.
