North Coast

Watamu is a small coastal town about two and a half hours north of Mombasa that has firmly established itself as the go-to destination for Nairobi expatriate families. It is known for its beautiful beaches, coral gardens, deep-sea fishing and sundowner dhow cruises on the creek — and its affordable land prices have made it a good market for investors and developers.

Malindi, fondly known as ‘Little Italy’, is recognised for its good weather, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches and affordable property prices, just an hour’s flight from Nairobi. Further north, Che Shale is a very private area with a unique golden sandy beach, 30 minutes from Malindi town.

Kilifi, overlooking Kilifi Creek and the Indian Ocean, blends natural charm with modern convenience and is seeing gated communities, holiday homes and eco-friendly developments. Vipingo, just south of Kilifi, is fast becoming a prime hotspot — golf estates, luxury residences and industrial parks — with strong potential for capital appreciation.
