Up Country

Beyond Nairobi the country opens up. The Nanyuki region straddles the equator in the foothills of Mount Kenya, and Nanyuki town is the gateway to the north’s world-renowned conservancies. Naivasha, 92.8 km north-west of Nairobi on the shores of Lake Naivasha, is a steadily growing hub for agriculture, leisure and ‘out of Nairobi’ homes.

South of the city, Kajiado offers open spaces, Rift Valley views and a cooler climate 45 minutes to an hour and a half from Nairobi, while Maanzoni and Athi River combine savannah living with one of Kenya’s fastest-growing corridors. And on the edge of the Maasai Mara, a few rare properties offer the dream of a safari home in the wild.
