A little history about the house…
The 300-year-old house belonged to the Al-Bakry family, one of the ruling, wealthy families in those days. Descendants still live in Lamu. The last person who actually lived in it was mzee Mwenye Amin. He was/is well known to locals as he used to have Madrasas and Maulidis in his house. The arab inscription on the outside wall, on street side means God is the best provider.
